Lionel wants to restore the house while respecting the work of his ancestors. This house built in 1901 has many secrets and wonders.
Large stone walls are coated with a lime plaster.
In the French Alps, lime was used by rich families, to make farms look like buildings in cities. Only very rich farms were decorated with paintings. The house of the Marquis had this honor.
So during restoration, paintings were recreated exactly like the originals by Jean-Louis Reffet, a well-known artist who restores Baroque chapels in Savoie.
Another wonder. The framework of the house was perfectly preserved during years. This frame, made entirely from Larch, has retained its unique charm and breathtaking proportions: a 24meters long larch has been watching over the house and its inhabitants for over a century.
Many other wooden objects have been preserved and used for decoration or for your comfort.
We wish you a happy stay in our Family house,
Lionel
